7 Ways to Reset Your Mood and Set Intentions For A Better Day

Every morning starts with the potential for a calm and clearer mindset. If you’re having a rough week or feeling burnt out and over worked, here are 7 ways you can reset your mind and set intentions for a better day!

1. Make Your Bed

It may sound silly but making your bed first thing in the morning is something you can do in less than a minute and have already accomplish for the day. Starting you morning with organization and a ready-to-go attitude preps for a positive mindset. And it’s one less thing you have to worry about at the end of the day! You can just slip right into bed without the added frustrations of twisted sheets or adding one more task to your list of to-do’s.

2. Drink A Cup of Warm Water or Tea

Give your body a gentle wake up call with a cup of warm water or hot tea. Warm liquids first thing in the morning are so cozy. They can help kickstart the digestive system naturally and hydrate the body. Proper hydration can lead to better focus, clearer thoughts, and a groggy-free day. Add some lemon for a bit of vitamin C, or steep with herbal teas for an extra calming sensation.

Here are 5 herbal teas I find that help to start the day off right!

  1. Green tea – heightens your focus, mood, and supports memory
  2. Peppermint – refreshes, reduces stress, and aids in concentration and digestion
  3. Ginseng – reduces stress, boosts energy, and improves cognitive function
  4. Chamomile – reduces stress and promotes relaxation. I like Mountain Rose Organic Chamomile
  5. Ginger – aids digestion and boosts energy. Also pairs great for a refreshing non-alcoholic mojito night cap!

3. Eat a Nourishing Breakfast

Eat a healthy, nourishing breakfast to provide your body with energy. Nutrient packed meals can help you take on the mental or physical impacts you may face during the day.

Drink a fruit smoothie to feed the starving bacteria in your gut or cook up some farm fresh eggs for your daily essential fatty acids and proteins. You can even add a side of sourdough bread for a bit of gut support! Whatever your choice is, make it a nourishing one!

4. Avoid Screen Time After You Wake Up

Try to spend the first 30 min to 1 hour of your morning without your phone or other screens. You want to start the morning off right by setting the intention for a slow and mindful day! Scrolling aimlessly can make time fly – and the last thing you want is to realize you’re running late and rush out the door in a panic. So slow down, sip your tea, and enjoy the quiet peacefulness of the morning without your phone!

5. Meditate or Practice Yoga

Yoga and meditation are one of the best slow living hobbies you can practice to clear your mind and set intentions for the day. During the day we tend to loose ourselves in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Practice yoga to wake up the body and stretch the areas where you may be holding stress. Or meditate to feel more grounded and present with yourself.

6. Set Goals and Write Them Down

Set goals that you want to accomplish and write them down. Whether they’re long term, short term, or even too far fetched. When you write down your goals, studies show that you are more likely to actually accomplish them! So set intentions and write down what is you want to achieve. Seeing it on paper may just clarify what it is that you want and motivate you to take action.

7. Create an Agenda

Don’t overcrowd your thoughts with the unwarranted stress of a full schedule. Create an agenda to keep your day organized and on track, so there’s no rush, no panic, and no stress about missing something important.

Set reminders in your phone or your calendar of the tasks ahead. And remember to leave some time in between to recoup. Often times we put too much on our plate and don’t realize how much we do until we see it written down. Create an agenda and avoid the burn out!

Whether you’re looking to avoid burn out or you’re feeling over worked, starting a morning that’s full of intention is the best way to enter the day! Enjoy a moment of solace and create the peaceful mindset you’re looking for!
