A Note of Caution
I encourage you to do your own research before using these oils. I am not a doctor, esthetician, or dermatologist—just a women passionate about natural wellness and skincare. Everyone’s skin is unique and may react differently. What works for me may not work the same for you, so always proceed with care and caution. If your unsure whether this product will work for you, consult your healthcare provider prior to use.
What is Rosehip Oil?
Rosehip oil (also known as rosehip seed oil) is a plant-based oil derived from the fruit of the wild rose bush. As the petals begin to fall off, tiny fruits—rosehips—are left behind. These fruits are rich with seeds that are cold-pressed to produce a nutrient-packed oil that’s full of skin-loving benefits.
Benefits of Rosehip Oil
Hydration & Water Retention
If you have dry, acne prones skin like me, rose-hip oil is great for retaining moisture and supporting the skin’s natural barrier thanks to the essential fatty acids like linoleic and linolenic acid it carries.
Fights Fine Lines & Brightens Skin
As a natural form of vitamin A (retinol), rose-hip oil can also help boost collagen and reduce the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation providing a more youthful complexion.
Balances Oil Production
If you struggle with oily skin, rosehip oil can even help regulate sebum (your skins natural oil) production, reducing clogged pores and breakouts while calming inflammation and supporting acne-scar healing.

Castor oil comes from the castor bean plant and has been used for centuries for its medicinal and skincare properties. While it’s widely known as a natural laxative, castor oil also offers impressive topical benefits much like rosehip oil—especially for acne and uneven skin tone.
Benefits of Castor Oil
Reduces Acne & Inflammation
Packed with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory compounds like ricinoleic acid, castor oil helps soothe irritation, reduce breakouts, and calm redness.
Promotes Healing
Having acne you know that acne scars will last way longer than the breakouts themselves, but using castor oil can help to repair damaged skin quickly reducing the healing time.
Brightens the Under-Eye Area
Much like rose-hip oil, castor oil can also diminish the appearance of dark circles and fine lines under the eyes, promoting a brighter, more refreshed look.

Why Use Them Together?
On their own, rosehip and castor oils offer incredible benefits for the skin – but together, they’re a skincare powerhouse, combating acne and dull skin. When used correctly, together they can:
Soothe irritation while fighting signs of aging
Leave skin soft, bright, and more even-toned
Reduce inflammation and sebum production to manage breakouts
What to Avoid When Using Facial Oils
Overapplying Oil
A little goes a long way. Using too much can clog pores and leave your skin feeling greasy. You want to stick to 1-2 drops of each oil for best results.
Using Oils as Sunscreen
Oils (especially rosehip with its vitamin A content) can increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. I like to use them in my night time routine as my skin is already very sensitive.
Skipping Moisturizer
While oils soften the skin, they aren’t as effective at sealing in hydration on their own. Pair with a good moisturizer to keep skin healthy and hydrated.
Sunscreen and moisturizers I use and highly recommend:
How to Use Oils in Your Routine
Patch Test First
From my experience it’s always best practice to test a new skin care product to rule out sensitivities or allergies. If you experience irritation, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider if unsure.
Apply to Damp Skin
After cleansing your face – while your skin is still damp – apply 1–2 drops on your finger tips and gently massage the oil into your skin. Do not dry your face before applying the oils as water is necessary for hydrating the skin, and the oils will help to retain the moisture.
Lock in Moisture
While your face is still damp, follow with your favorite moisturizer. Oils can help soften and soothe the skin, but they are not as effective as moisturizers are. Most moisturizers hydrate by sealing the skin and locking in water to achieve soft, glowing skin.
